a. Use Cases for On-Device ASR
i. Manufacturing
Factory equipment when human safety is involved, for example urgent voice commands to disable or divert fork lifts, heavy machinery, etc.
ii. Automated Vehicles
First responder communication with stalled, disabled, or dangerous automated vehicles. After authenticating via WiFi or USB, voice commands must be translated to ROS APIs using a portable, battery powered device
b. Edge Requirements
i. No cloud connection or other cloud dependencies
ii. Very high accuracy, minimal false positives
iii. Small form-factor, e.g. pico-ITX, multicore high performance smartphone
iv. Very low power consumption, under 15W for 3 hrs
