Meeting Summary
Ocre Project Update
Ocre infrastructure is maturing with GitHub best practices implemented, including code owners, security measures, and workflow actions.
Ocre tooling
Refreshed Ocre C/C++ container with updates to the WASI SDK and GCC versions.
Plans to integrate an Ocre CLI into the C\C++ dev container soon to enable users to upload/manage containers via a 3rd-party registry.
Plans to add additional Zephyr subshell commands to the Ocre runtime to ease container management (e.g., load, unload, etc.).
General Discussion
Discussed support for Linux as a target platform, particularly for resource-constrained devices with 4-8MB RAM where Docker isn't viable.
Explored testing infrastructure needs and simulation capabilities for hardware testing.
Dan raised questions about Execute-In-Place (XIP) support for core runtime and containers, with Stephen noting the current Ocre runtime supports it, but WAMR implementation needs work. Solutions discussed: optional filesystems, contiguous layout filesystems, or buffer bank management.
Discussed Zephyr 4.0 release, and versioning strategy — confirming commitment to v3.7 LTS for the near future.
Established a need for a formal process to gather agenda items before meetings.
